John "Divine G" Whitfield is the founder/owner of Divine G Entertainment. Divine G is the real person Colman Domingo portraits in the movie Sing Sing. He also was an executive producer on this film and made a cameo appearance as a Book Fan. As the founder and owner of Divine G Entertainment, Divine G boasts an impressive literary portfolio. His works include eight novels, numerous short stories, several plays, and three audiobooks. He has written thirteen screenplays, winning four PEN American Center Awards and the 2008 Tacenda Literary Award for Best Play. Additionally, he produced, directed, and starred in his debut short film, "Enigma of Love."

Divine G's talents extend beyond writing. He has acted in countless plays, appeared as an extra in a Hollywood feature film, and hosted his own internet radio show, "The Divine G Show." His expertise also reached the music industry, where he worked as a supervisory carpenter on Lil Wayne's 2013 "America’s Most Wanted" Tour.

Notably, Divine G's advocacy for education in detention was highlighted by the United Nations in its UN Report of the Special Rapporteur on the right of education of persons in detention (A/HRC/11/8, pg. 6, ¶ 11 - 2 April 2009).
