Welcome Prof. Upadhyay! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background as writer and a professor?
Thank you. It's a great pleasure to be here.
Well, I was born, raised and lives in Bhanjang Basti, Haflong which is a small Nepalis’ hamlet in the district headquarter of Dima Hasao, in the Indian states of Assam. I write articles, book chapters, research articles, poems, children’s as well as nonfiction titles. I started writing from my post-graduates onwards. I am a graduate in science from Haflong government college, an MSc, MPhil and a PhD from Assam University, Silchar.
I am best known for my writings and teaching!
My father (Pitambar Upadhaya) was in the Northeast Frontier Railway service and Nandakala (Bawni) Upadhaya (mother), a homemaker.
My writings have been appeared, quoted and cited in several international journals and books of repute. I was a Albert Nelson Lifetime achievement award winner, the winner of Pencraft Literary Excellence Award, the Literary titan Book award, along with many other honors.
I am currently a Professor (assistant) at the Assam University affiliated, Haflong government college in India.
What inspired you to writing?
I was always inclining to writing and teaching from my post MSc onwards. It’s not possible to say where inspiration comes from? Well that is largely a mystery. Simply, I just love to write, learn and teach. From there, it just took shape. I always try to be genuine in my actions and my words.
As a teacher, how do you deal with feedback and criticism about your writings and teaching?
Feedback and criticism are important to both the writing or teaching processes. I’ve learned to separate myself from my work to objectively evaluate feedback. Constructive criticism, especially from trusted readers, students and colleagues, helps me identify areas for improvement. It’s important to stay open-minded and not take it personally. Every piece of feedback is an opportunity to learn and grow.
What are you currently working on?
Well, I'm working on a couple of projects right now related to poetry and children’s, but it's tough to disclose anything right now.
Where can readers and students find your writings and connect with you?
Students and readers can find my writings on major online retailers like Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Google Books, Google Scholars, etc.
I could be connected online at Google Scholar and LinkedIn also.
